“The marketing I have been doing is not giving me the results I want. How should I market my business? How do I get my name out there?”
I get asked these questions pretty much on a daily basis. This is one of the biggest marketing problems small business owners face - their marketing efforts not giving them their desired results, leaving them confused and distressed.
This is where I come in.
Outlined below are the steps to take when you find yourself in this position:
Step 1: Audit your current marketing efforts: List all the things you are doing to market your business. Include everything: social media, social media ads, promotional coupons, existing website, magazine ads, responding to yelp reviews… and such.
Step 2: Identify your target customer. Pinpoint exactly who your target customer is. Who do you want to sell your product or service to? Business owners? Millennials? Dog owners? Mothers? Try to get as specific as possible.
Step 3: Get to know your target customer. After you have identified your target customer, get to know them and learn about them. What are their needs? What are their struggles? How can you serve them best? Where are they located (both in person and online)? How do they like to be spoken to?
Step 4: Compare your current marketing efforts to your target customer. Do your marketing efforts match with your target customer? Are you doing marketing activities that will reach them? Are you in all the places that they are? Are you speaking to them in a way that relates to them? Are you speaking to their wants and needs?
Step 5: Revamp your marketing strategy. Based on what you’ve learned in the prior steps, make changes to your marketing strategy. Try new things, be creative and have fun with it!
Reach out to me with any questions about this and as always let me know how it goes. I love hearing your success stories!
